The California Handgun Roster and list is what California deems “safe to buy”. Effective Jan 1, 2001 no firearms can be made in Cal, brought in for sale, or just plain sold unless it is on the California Department of Justice handgun roster. These guns all have to pass a drop safety test and firing test in which the manufacturer of that firearm pays a large fee to the DOJ to be on this “special list”….
Private party transfers, C&R handguns, and single action revolvers (old wild west style) are not applicable to this list.
