Many of you know about this movie and the importance of it’s subject matter. For those who are unfamiliar with the movie ‘ASSAULTED: Civil Rights Under Fire’ this is a movie that directly addresses the constant attacks and all too often false accusations regarding YOUR Second Amendment rights in California. This film has been helped along by Calguns members just like yourself by donating money to help with production and time and effort through groups like The Calguns Shooting Sports Association and The Calguns Foundation to get this film out to the public.

It’s time the public knew the truth about firearms, gun owners and how their own civil rights are being stripped away from them.

Please see if its showing in your area and support it anyway you can. Facebook twitter, word of mouth email make it go viral we are still in a fight for our freedoms

The laws of Moses and the laws of today.

Okay, so here is something to think about…. What if instead of passing more gun laws, the government abolished many of the laws already in place? What would the outcome be: lawlessness, mass shootings, bodies piling up in the streets? What if none of these scenarios came to pass? Instead, we had a drastic drop in the overall crime rate. Would the criminals that do not obey laws regarding guns, or anything else, want to try to rob the Quickie Mart on the corner knowing that the clerk or clerks are most likely packing heat, and not pistols with stupid 7 or 10 round magazines, but the 15 and 17 round magazines the pistols were designed to use. Or the AR 15 with the 30 round magazine under the counter, next to the 12 gauge semi-automatic shotgun with the extended 7 round magazine tube with double 00 buck in it.

What would become of the would be rapist? Would that crime perhaps take the most drastic fall statistically? If women were now empowered by the availability and ease of ownership of a firearm, are they still the weaker sex? Or did we give them the power to protect themselves? As the old saying goes “God made man, but Sam Colt made them equal.” Isn’t a nickname for a gun…. the equalizer?

A woman with a firearm evens the disparity of force.

The criminals have guns, should not the law abiding, hardworking, God fearing rest of us that do the right thing by society day in and day out? Would the now law abiding citizens remain law abiding or would we slowly see a transformation to a society of criminals and a slide into lawlessness?

I would like to think that our society is strong enough, smart enough, and care enough about our fellow citizens to not want to do great bodily harm or death to them just because of the availability of firearms.

I would like to think that those that have firearms would come to the aide of citizens that do not have a firearm for protection for whatever reason. Coming together, and helping those in need, is that not some of the things that makes us as a nation and society great.

The crimes that have been recently perpetrated using firearms have been done by a sick few individuals. This of course is exactly the type of incidents that the Left want, to further their anti-gun agenda. We have not heard much but in passing, about the underlying root cause of mental illness in these cases. Instead of taking a stand on the issue of mental illness and how to address and treat that, which in my opinion is the real killer, the gun is just the tool, the mind being wholly responsible for the deed. Mental illness is where this massive anti-gun effort should be refocused, not more laws aimed at law abiding gun owners. Let us not forget also that these incidents came to an end when these gunmen were confronted by an armed citizen or a police officer. The shooter either surrendered or killed himself. Yes, I would like to think that we as Americans would be wise and judicious in the use of firearms, just as we have been, with the exception of a sick few. The ability to own firearms is one of the key things that makes us standout in the world. The Founding Fathers saw fit to guaranty that right shall not be infringed upon by any government since the inception of this country, or any future government that may come.

God bless America!!!!

Personal Freedom “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

These wise words were spoken by the late Charlton Heston, at an NRA convention regarding the Bill of rights.

It’s sad that Americans still have to “fight” for the personal freedoms that were already fought for. Freedoms won with the blood of uncountable lives since the beginning of this amazing experiment called….The United States of America. Benjamin Franklin said “Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety”. Yet even today battles are still being fought over basic human rights. These battles are being waged in the courts, in the minds of society, and in many other fronts. Little versions of red coats (legislators) love taking your freedoms away by creating new laws “for safety” and using your money to do it.

“At home, our enemy is no longer Red Coats, but red ink”
-President Ronald Reagan

“In vain, after these things, may we indulge the fond hope of peace and reconciliation. There is no longer any room for hope. If we are to be free; if we mean to preserve inviolate those inestimable privileges for which we have been so long contending; if we mean not basely to abandon the noble struggle in which we have been so long engaged, and which we have pledged ourselves never to abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained — we must fight! I repeat sir — we must fight! An appeal to arms, and to the God of hosts, is all that is left us.”

-Patrick Henry

People don’t talk like this anymore. Patrick Henry, one of the ”most influential champions of Republicanism” knew what is was like to be on the cusp of gaining freedom from a tyrannical government . Our society has grown accustom to the mentality of “this is the way it’s always been”. Not many of Americans have ever had to fight for freedom. Martin Luther King and millions of other black Americans knew what it was like to fight for equality and freedom.

Idealist Governmental entities are always attempting to create some social/global euphoria (that has never existed since the beginning of time nor will ever exist). They overstep their boundaries in order to “Fundamentally Transform the United States of America”. Most new laws only serve to sooth our emotions, gain political clout for their authors and pushing their personal agenda while fooling the public with fancy rhetoric and acting like they are doing their jobs (like browsing the Internet at work and playing it off like you are working hard). America works too hard paying lawmakers salaries so they can tax us more, squandering it on senseless, and endless new gun restrictions that don’t work at stopping the evil in the hearts and mind of men. It is not possible to legislate against the madness or evilness of our fellow Americans. Whenever a tragedy happens like the Colorado Shooting, or even Columbine, the outcries for more rules and laws becomes deafening. This reminds me of elementary school experience when one student would act up or break rules, the teacher would punish the whole class by taking away a small break or something of that sort. Basically the same thing happens on a larger scale when a crazy and disturbed person carries out felonious acts, our rights and freedoms are put in the crossfire of public scrutiny. Our freedoms or current law structure is always blamed instead of the crazy person. Calls for “common-sense gun laws” are always top headlines after any heinous act is carried out with a firearm. Why don’t we get more calls for road laws, and more laws restricting drinking and driving? Oh wait there are already laws against this, just as there are already laws against murdering innocent people. Feel free to engage by leaving a comment.

Why did I start a california gun blog on all things firearms for california residents? I am passionate about guns and about what they symbolize as a free American and how good citizens can use them to ensure we are not enslaved by criminals, corrupt governments, and possible invasion on American soil. You see if guns did not exist, America most certainly would not exist either. The 2nd amendment insures that this amazing legacy of self-reliance and freedom continues on for generations. Out of all the articles in the constitution it seems that the second has been attacked the most and its sad that the people have to hire lawyers, join a group (NRA, GOA, and SAF) just to keep corrupt politicians (yes I said corrupt, because any politician that would take away your freedom doesn’t deserve liberty or freedom) from limiting AND taking your rights away. Why? Once you give up a freedom or once a new law is legislated …..you never get it back. Why do you think California is sinking deeper and more into debt. Its wasteful spending and bad laws. Well that my rant for now. More to come

What is an “Assault Weapon”, or you could ask what is a “california assault weapon“? Lately this has been a buzzword typically used by the mainstream media as well as political figures to describe a “military style rifle”. “Assault weapon” is an invented term that shows up nowhere in any firearm dictionary or lexicon; moreover the only term that even comes close to it is “assault rifle” which is for all intents and purposes is a fully auto machine gun (already illegal). Their use (“assault rifle”) to commit crimes is so rare one might wonder why it garners so much attention from the media? We hear politicians and news anchors use terms like “100 round clip” or “automatic assault weapon” and “military style weapon” but those familiar with firearms, and their nomenclature know these items don’t exist. They are pejorative terms conjured up by groups and politicians that know nothing about guns, but want to strike fear into the masses to assist them in shaping unnecessary and ineffective reforms on firearm ownership. Let me be blunt with you, every object used in an attack is an “Assault Weapon” including a rock or a pair of scissors. You may still be asking then why are these black (or pink) rifles called “Assault Weapons”? It is simply propaganda and fear mongering.

An “Assault Weapon” is not functionally different than any other semi-automatic hunting rifle (though cosmetically similar to military guns). For example it uses the exact same ammunition (.223, .308 etc), holds the same number of rounds (10 round magazine in CA), and functions the same as any hunting rifle in the sense that you must press the trigger each time you want to discharge a round, 1 trigger pull, 1 shot fired. It’s the same functions as grandpa’s old hunting rifle, 1 shot per trigger squeeze.

Here is an older video from the mid-nineties in which a police officer/firearms expert (whom often disagree with politicians attempts at crime reduction through gun control) demonstrates the difference between a real “ASSAULT RIFLE” and what the media and state legislators call “Assault Weapons”.

There is NO sound logic behind the government’s desire to restrict or remove your rights and no tactic too devious when it comes to legislating your freedoms away. If you value your rights and are tired of elected representatives making legislation regarding things they know absolutely nothing about then please get involved! We can’t allow ourselves to be disarmed like England or Australia we have to take a stand before it is too late, to let them know enough is enough.

Glock has been manufacturing pistols since the early 80′s and has since grown to extreme popularity not only with 65% of Americas police force, but with every day citizens like yourself. When one decides to carry concealed, quality needs to be at the top of the list. You need a gun that can go “bang” with every pull of the trigger as well as be able to withstand lint, sweat, and still be comfortable in the buyers hand. Glock for concealed carry is also popular, especially among law enforcement. It has been recommended by many firearms experts to always carry a backup gun that is similar and in some cases can fire using the same magazines and ammunition as your primary service weapon. Its like having a spare magazine wrapped around a gun. Glock is perfect for this since Glock magazines (not clips) can use the same magazine in the same caliber (ie G19/26).

Sixty Five percent of Americas police force use Glock

Glocks reputation for reliability is the reason it has been a main contender and consideration for government contracts; however this is not the only reason. Cost is also a major factor. Polymer pistols are cheap, sturdy, and relatively easy to manufacture (with high profit margins also). Sig Sauer, Glock, Beretta and even Colt have all been awarded major contracts with the United States Government. Quality has been the basis for these contracts, and secondly because they got a good deal with the manufacturer. I believe politics does play a role in the vetting process at some point; however the manufacturer needs to have a reliable product to even get on the shortlist. There would be an outcry and probably some eyebrows raised if HI-POINT firearms won a five million dollar contract with the FBI (at this point in time), not saying it could never happen, I just don’t see that currently happening in today’s firearms market. There are so many tried and true sidearms and Glock just happens to be the one I am writing about today and have experience with. Glock has over twenty-three different models in over seven popular calibers or cartridges. I want to focus on the 9mm cartridge as this is the most popular (nato standard) and it’s the gun I recommend most. The 9mm (9x19mm Parabellum) cartridge is a very cost-effective firearm to own, shoot and since you will want to practice often with your concealed carry handgun this is the caliber I recommend you talk a strong look at. Glock offers five pistols in the 9mm range Glock 17, 18 (automatic, so not something you can probably buy), 19, 26, and 34.

You are awakened in the middle of the night to the sound of breaking glass, a lamp-stand knocked to the ground, and your two small dogs barking their heads off….Now is not the time to have worries and questions regarding the legalities of using your gun to possibly defend yourself or loved ones from the burglar that has invaded your own personal castle. The “Castle Doctrine” is not clear to most people and yet its the foundation of our self defense laws. It dates back to the 17th century English common law where “A man’s home is his castle. Attacked there, he doesn’t need to retreat.” There has been a lot of confusion over the “stand your ground” law and the “castle doctrine” especially around the time that the Travon Martin case made national headlines(I remember hearing a lot of negative feedback from the blogosphere as well as the liberal media bashing the doctrine without stopping to think that George Zimmerman has not been delivered a verdict and not all the details are fully known). “Stand your Ground” is referring to outside the home and the “castle doctrine” is referring to inside the home. Castle doctrine plays up a little more strongly because it is in your home and the fact that someone is using force to break into your house unlawfully (felony) creates the fear of life or great bodily harm. Stand your ground takes this and applies it to outside the home or any other place that you have a right to be; however there is no preconditioned crime being committed (breaking into your home) so the stand your ground is not as strong.

I always advise a person that wants to buy a rifle for the first time to get a Ruger 10/22 as a starter rifle. My first starter rifle was the reputable Ruger 10/22. A very classic and well made long-arm that after 48 years of being in production is still going strong. The Ruger .22 rimfire is one of those rifles that any gun enthusiast must must own (like a Remington 870, and a 1911) . The 10/22 is a fantastic survival gun, and even defensive gun in some cases. It is the benchmark for all .22 rimfire riffles. In properly trained hands a 10/22 has a lot of potential for lethality at a 100 yard range.
